Coxlodge football pitches:
In the last few weeks, Fawdon United have needed to move to an alternative site in the West of the City due to the changing facilities at Coxlodge Playing fields being condemned.
Councillor Rob Austin, called the council’s decision “appalling” and said the city should be trying to support grassroots sport to help promote better health and wellbeing.
Fawdon and West Gosforth Councillors want to know;
1. Why have the changing facilities at Coxlodge Playing Fields been allowed to fall into disrepair and to the point of being condemned, when through maintenance activities the point of replacement should have been forecasted and funding prepared in advance?
2. What is the timeline for the return of Fawdon United to Coxlodge Playing Fields?
3. What is the Cabinet member going to do to ensure the recommendations in the “Newcastle City Council Plan for Playing Pitches” are reviewed and shortfalls addressed?
